OGC's Main Street homes partner with the YMCA YCAP for garden project

Beginning March 2010, Orange Grove Center's Main Street homes are partnering with the YMCA YCAP Program to construct a community garden. The YCAP Program serves children ages 10 to 14 who have been identified as being at-risk. This program provides a structured program that helps children to make good choices, and to participate in group and community activities.

Residential Habilitation is happy to be a part of this process of building community partnerships. The project has received a grant to construct a garden on the site of the Main Street homes. The children will help with the construction, planting, maintaining and harvesting of the garden. They have included a raised bed design area of the garden for our non-ambulatory individuals.

Special thanks to Monterey Mushrooms of Loudon, TN, for their contribution of mushroom compost to the project.
