Lynn Porter, FNP (left), of Orange Grove Center, accepts a donation for $2000 from Bingham, Manager of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Foundation and Community Trust.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee Health Foundation and Community Trust recently presented a check for $2000 for the purchase of a new automated external defibrillator (AED) to save the lives of the individuals in the Tyber Building at Orange Grove Center.

The Tyber Building is a pick-up and drop-off point for more than 100 individuals at Orange Grove who work in the community, and is home to the center's Community Supports, Intermediate Care Facilities for persons with intellectual disabilities and Residential Habilitation.

The AED will be used to save lives in the event of a medical emergency, such as heart failure or cardiac arrest.
