Founders' Day 2009 was held on Tuesday, December 1, with the luncheon at
11:30 a.m., and the dinner at
6 p.m. This year's events were held at the
University of
Tennessee at
Chattanooga in the Tennessee Room. The theme was, “Discovery: Uncovering Potential.”
Meals were catered by UTC's Dining Services, and music was provided by The Ralph Miller Trio.
State Representative Bo Watson presented Virginia Farmer the "Person of the Year” award, and Orange Grove parent and board member, Tom Cox, was honored as “Board Member of the Year.” The two recipients were also highlighted in video presentations created by Dennis Wilkes, OGC’s Art Director.
Board member, John Germ was presented the “TNCO Volunteer of the Year” award, and Mike Gray received the “Volunteer Committee Member of Year” award. Nutrition Services was honored as the “Department of the Year.”
Hal Baker, former Deputy Director, returned for Founders’ Day to receive a special award on behalf of Ann Shea, the choreographer for the Orange Grove Dancers. Baker was a major supporter of Shea and the Dancers during his tenure at Orange Grove.
